We’re not saying you won’t see one in your lifetime, but there are ways to keep things sanitary and clean for everyone. A lot of people assume that while a porta potty is in use, the conditions they see it in are the conditions they stay in. Incorrect. We can tell you how porta potties are cleaned while in service.

Dump the Waste

Obviously, it all starts with removing the waste because that’s the root of the problem. It needs to get out of there, and you can’t do it alone. You’ll need to turn to your provider for them to evacuate and dump the waste properly.

The provider will show up with a sanitation truck equipped with a specially designed vacuum. Insert the small vacuum into the opening of the toilets, and then the hose will pump the waste tank dry. Next, the sanitation truck transports the waste to the nearest wastewater facility for proper treatment.

Give It a Charge

When we say give it a charge, it has nothing to do with electricity. Charging the unit refers to the blue chemical additive in the holding tank. Depending on the size of the unit, you’ll need to add close to five gallons of the blue chemical, which works as an odor-control substance and disinfectant.

Not only does it control the odor inside the unit, but it also works to notify the renter when it’s time to dump and clean the holding take again. Once the blue additive starts to take on a greenish tint, that’s your sign it’s time to have the provider come back out and service your portable restrooms.

Scrub-a-Dub

The holding tank is not the only thing you need to concern yourself with. Inside the unit is also an essential compartment that requires a good cleaning. Scrub and clean the interior walls, toilet seats, urinals, and any other major points of contact areas.

Take bleach and any other disinfectant products to these areas, including the floor, to eliminate the bacteria inside the unit. And don’t forget about the outer door. Remember that patrons still touch the outer and inner doors for entrance and exit. Clean the handle to help control the spread of germs.

Bring on the Supplies

Last but not least, you’ll need to restock the supplies inside the unit. No one wants to enter a porta-potty that has no toilet paper inside. Our technicians will make sure you’re squared away before your next event.

If you shop with us and get one of our portable restroom trailers for rent, we’ll make sure it’s fully stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, soap, hand sanitizer, and any other amenities your patrons might need.

Here at Floods Royal Flush, we are dedicated to cleaning your porta-potties while they’re in service to ensure everyone at your event has a great and sanitary time.
